  1. All VERTEBRATE have two kidneys. Kidneys are
  2. shaped like large reddish-brown beans. 
  3. Human kidneys are about the size of a persons
  4. fist. They lie on each side of the backbone,
  5. at just about waist level. Kidneys clean the
  6. BLOOD that circulates the body. They filter
  7. out waste matter and strain off any water 
  8. that the body does not need. Blood pumped
  9. from the HEART and flows into each kidney
  10. through an artery. Each Kidney contains 
  11. tubes that act as filters. Blood cells,
  12. tiny food particals, and other useful items
  13. stay in the blood to be used by the body. 
  14. Filtered blood flows out of the kidney 
  15. through veins. All the waste matter and
  16. extra water is mixed together and make urine,
  17. this drips slowly into the bladder.
